Born in North Carolina, I have spent most of my life in the Upstate of South Carolina. After graduating from North Carolina State University, I came to Greenville to work with KEMET Electronics.
Over the years, my wife, Sandy, and I traveled across the United States and I discovered places that I wanted to draw or paint. Hence, most of my life's work are landscapes including lighthouses from the East coast and Canada, or historical buildings from the nation’s capital or the family farm. I am trying new things like animals, vehicles and still lifes. We have moved to Oxford, Mississippi and I expect I'll find lots of art subjects there as well.
My Process
My Mediums
I prefer to work with pen and ink with a smattering of graphite for most of my work. I also do watercolors either as a complete watercolor or mixed with pen and ink.
My Inspiration
I create art to evoke emotions. I want you to feel something familiar or sad or joyful from my art. I have drawn a number of family homes and can see the connection of these pieces to the people who receive them. I want my art to make you want to move - to go to a place that I have painted or drawn or to imagine yourself there.
My Style
Most of my drawings in the early years were landscapes, especially historical buildings. I have begun to do other subjects like animals.
